An Open Letter to the Jerk(s) at the Bar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Dear certain individuals to whom this may concern,

I have a right to be here, at this bar, just like you do.

I have a right to have fun with my friends because I’ve had a hard week, just like you may have.

So why do you try to make me feel guilty when I tell you nicely I am not interested?

Why do you need me to give you a reason to leave me alone?

And once I give you a reason, why do you still not accept it?

So if you buy me a drink, know that all that merits is a thank you.

I owe you nothing, and the world would be a better place if you respected that.

Respectfully-not-yours,

A girl who has a right to be at the bar
