My Ranking of Madison Beer’s Debut Album “Life Support”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

I know that Madison Beer is a polarizing celebrity in the sense that people either seem to love her or hate her. However, I have always respected and even enjoyed her music—so much so that I was very excited for the release of her debut album, Life Support. This album tells a story through its lyricism and intricate production. Keep reading for my ranking of all the tracks on Life Support.

“Emotional Bruises”

I have been waiting for this track to come out since Madison teased it over a year ago. It is an incredibly vulnerable song containing deep, meaningful lyrics. This song is about finally letting go of someone.

“Stained Glass”

This is another incredibly vulnerable track. It is a contemplative song that describes the feeling of being mistreated and misunderstood.

“Sour Times”

This is one of the more upbeat songs on the album. It details the feeling of being used or manipulated into doing something.

“Follow the White Rabbit”

This is a track with insane production and nods to the classic book and movie Alice in Wonderland. The song is about the beginning of a relationship that will eventually become toxic.

“Blue”

This song has a Lana vibe to it, and it is another song that describes a toxic relationship that Madison had to leave due to its effect on her mental health.

“Selfish”

This is another of Madison’s most vulnerable songs. This song details a breakup of hers but is essentially about a former toxic relationship.

“Stay Numb and Carry On”

This track is another track with incredible production. It is also one of the more upbeat songs off the album. Like the title suggests, this song is about deciding to just not care anymore.

“Everything Happens for a Reason”

This song is the perfect way to start to close off this album. It leaves this incredibly sad and vulnerable album on a more positive note.

“Homesick”

The lyrics of this track are very different from most of the relationship-related tracks off the album. Like the title suggests, this song is about feeling like you do not fit in and details the feeling of being homesick.

“Boyshit”

This is another very upbeat song off the album. It is about not putting up with toxic behavior.

“Effortlessly”

This track is more delicate and pretty-sounding than many of the other more produced songs on the album. It is about being obsessed with someone who is simultaneously crushing you.

“Default”

This song has a very different, slower feel than many of the other songs off this album. It is about having a partner who takes everything out of you in a negative way.

“Interlude”

I love this interlude track more than some of the full songs on the album. She sings in this track about wanting to enter a relationship with someone that she is currently just casually seeing.

“Good in Goodbye”

This song is another very upbeat track. It is about being done with a toxic relationship that has affected her mental health.

“Channel Surfing / the End”

This song is so interesting because it includes multiple clips from songs off the album and acts almost as a recap of the full album.

“Baby”

I know that this is one of the more popular songs off the album, but I just do not like it as much as the other songs. It is about knowing your worth when it comes to relationships.

“The Beginning”

This intro track is beautiful, but it’s just not as fantastic as the rest of the album. However, I think it is a perfect start for this album.

I hope you enjoyed this ranking of Life Support!
