There are certain songs that always calm me down and bring me back to simpler times. Some of these songs I can remember listening to on the radio when I was in elementary school, not really understanding the lyrics but singing along nonetheless. Other songs I’ve found more recently and quickly added to my playlist because of the emotion they invoke. In either case, these songs both calm me down and are an outlet for my emotions, even if that day’s emotions make the songs seem like a bit of a juxtaposition. All of these songs have been complied into one place: my “aesthetic” playlist. No matter my mood or the time of year, these are always the songs I’m craving to listen to. Here are some of my favorites:

1.  Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

Any fan of Grey’s Anatomy has heard this song. It makes me want to cry and yet peacefully lie on the floor and reflect on my life. How does it do this?!

2. Drops of Jupiter by Train

This is one of those songs that I’ve been listening too since I was a kid. It’s a song full of longing and love, while seeming mystical.

3. Heartbreak Warfare by John Mayer

Again, this song has a special place in my heart as I was in love with John Mayer when I was younger! This song would give me the feels, and I didn’t even know what “the feels” were!

4. I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz

This is just a beautifully written, feel-good song. Jason Mraz does it again with this one!

5. She is Love by Parachute

I’m not even sure how I found this song, but I absolutely love it. It’s a favorite of mine.

6. A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay

I love Coldplay, and this is a song I’d love to have at my wedding!

7. All I Want by Kodaline

Yes, this was in The Fault in Our Stars. No, I didn’t find it from that movie, but it definitely made me cry in that setting.

8. Landed on Mars by Atlas Bound

I actually found this song on a study playlist on Spotify. It’s just really calming and great to listen to when you’re working!

9. Wonderwall by Oasis

This is another classic and favorite song of mine.

10. Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray

I feel like The Fray is known for emotional songs. If you haven’t heard this yet, though I’m not sure how you haven’t, go listen and you’ll know what I mean.

11. This Love by Maroon 5

This Love was a childhood jam. It has now become a college jam.

12. You and Me by Lifehouse

Honestly, not sure where I heard this song either! Either way, it’s beautifully written and most people know it.

13. To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra & Patrick Watson

This is another song I heard on Grey’s Anatomy but had known previously before. It’s extremely sad, so if you listen carefully be sure to grab some tissues.

14. Breathe by EMBRZ

Breathe was found on the same playlist as the one I found Landed on Mars on, and has the same sort of calming vibe.

15. Free Fallin’ by John Mayer

As I write this, my boyfriend tells me it brings him back to before we started dating when I would sing songs from my aesthetic playlist and he would fall asleep on me. Do I further need to explain my choice to add it to this article?

Check out more songs on my playlist here!

Are any of these songs your go-to’s as well? These are all songs that are both nostalgic yet timeless. If you have an aesthetic playlist, please share the songs on yours down below so I can add to mine!
