Like any college student in a new city, I like to explore Boston to find cool shops and restaurants. I make a point every week to trek around the city to find interesting things and places, and make the most of my time here.
This week I visited Follain, a curated beauty store that only sells clean products, meaning products made from unprocessed, high quality ingredients. Follain was started in 2013 by Tara Folley, a Babson College alumnus. Folley opened Follain because she believes “no one should have to sacrifice health for beauty.” Now, there are three Follain locations in the Massachusetts area: Beacon Hill, South End, and a seasonal Nantucket location.
I visited the Follain in Boston’s South End. I found out about Follain after reading about it on Into the Gloss’s article about the best beauty stores across the United States according to their readers. Being the beauty-lover that I am, I was extremely excited to enter the store after I saw the “Best of Boston 2017” award for best skin care plastered on the window.
As I entered Follain, I was greeted by a beautiful and bright environment. Rather than being arranged by brand, the nontoxic beauty products were arranged by use, such as serums, facial cleansers, and face masks from brands like RMS Beauty, Pai, and OSEA. I still was slightly overwhelmed but was kindly assisted by one of Follain’s staff.
Although the products sold at Follain are pricey, I did buy some items. I had to control myself because I wanted to buy everything in Follain. I bought two things: the Follain Go-Clean Pouch and the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. I have heard only amazing things about the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, which is a serum, so I am very excited to start using it.
