Meet ROTC Campus Cutie Conor Goodman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Conor Goodman, a senior from San Diego, California, is probably the busiest guy you’ll meet at BU. He’s an advertising major in COM and has minors in both SMG and ENG. Not to mention he’s part of the Navy ROTC program. Part of his extra-curricular activities include being a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional fraternity, and he’s held quite a few positions, including Vice President of Membership and Recruitment Chair. All relating back to the Navy, these positions, Conor says, helped him become a great leader. He’s already been accepted into Flight School, where he’ll be headed after graduation.

There is virtually nothing this guy is not apart of. Besides AKPsi, Conor is also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. When this well-rounded Sailor isn’t playing for one of the three intramural teams he’s on (basketball, softball and broomball), you can probably find him at a pub’s trivia night or hosting his weekly The Walking Dead viewing parties with his friends.

Conor loves his hometown San Diego, but he’s traveled all over, from Costa Rica and Honduras to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. He’s creative and wants to be an entrepreneur. Later on, he says, he could see himself working for either Nike or Underarmour.

One of his favorite quotes to live by is, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” He sees a military theme in this, which reminds him of the importance of loyalty, especially to his close friends. Another quote he likes is “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails” because he believes everyone must make their own destiny. And of course this guy has loads of secret talents like beat-boxing, cooking and knowing random facts about pretty much anything (hence the trivia games).

On an ideal date Conor will take a girl somewhere during the day, like a baseball game, where she can be herself and have fun. After, he’ll probably cook up a delicious meal for the lucky lady and take her on a walk to get to know her better. He definitely wants the date to be fun, but cares more about what the girl wants to do…proof that chivalry is not dead.

Some interesting Conor facts:

His favorite TV shows include Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Modern Family, Homeland and Saturday Night Live.

He was on Oprah once when she came to his high school. She interviewed him and he got on the show!

Elyssa is a "New Yourker" who has somehow ended up in Boston. She is currently studying journalism at Boston University and is excited to be the Campus Correspondent for the BU branch of Her Campus! She also enjoys theatre, frozen yogurt, and obsessively watching "Dancing with the Stars." When not doing any of above, she can be found quoting "Pirates of the Caribbean."
