I Went to a Paint Bar for the First Time – Here’s What I Thought

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Paint bars are an all-new craze. The main idea is that you paint while you eat and drink. I decided to give the paint bar Muse a try. Each class has a specific painting that the teacher will be teaching the class to recreate. Many people pick the class they will attend depending on the painting they would like to make.

The prices of the classes range from $25 to $45. With the purchase of the class, the establishment provides you with a canvas, paintbrushes, and all the paint you will need. Some classes even include a free drink! The painting we were recreating in my class was of a cute little fox. My main worry was that the class would be hard to follow since I am not artistic, but I was completely wrong! Many of the paintings that the teachers choose are made up of very simple shapes so it is easy to follow. As long as you can draw basic shapes, you should be fine. Also, the teachers have assistants that walk around and help if you are stuck or lost.

If you go to a class and decide that you do not want to follow the drawing, that is completely fine. The teachers make it a point to say that you can draw whatever you wish and if you follow the drawing, you can modify it to your liking by changing the colors or adding other elements. The idea is to let your imagination run wild. For example, I went with my cousin and he decided he did not want to make a cute fox and made his painting more intense.

If you are 21, then you can enjoy drinks at the bar. They have a wide variety of wines and mixed drinks available to purchase. Everyone can enjoy food and nonalcoholic drinks from the restaurant. The menu consists of snacks like hummus platters, chips with guacamole and salsa, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels, and so on.

If you really like Muse, you can actually rent out the place for private events. When I went, two birthday parties were going on in the private rooms at the location.

Overall, I had a great time painting and I would definitely go again. I would recommend people give it a try—plus Muse has multiple locations in Massachusetts.
