I’m not big into hair styling; I’m an air-dry, head-out-the-door kind of girl. But, on those occasions that I want a cute, beachy wave, I knew that I needed a reliable curling iron or straightener. So, I set out to research the tools available and pick out the best one. I chose the ghd Platinum+ Pro Styler, and here’s why you should too.

Predictive Technology – The two plates continuously monitor each section of hair and adapt to the necessary temperature to style it.
365* F – The plates always are at the optimal temperature, which the website states to be 365*. There must be some science behind that number, but I don’t exactly know what it is.
Advanced Heating Plates – The plates are on a wishbone hinge to allow for perfect alignment, and give hair a smooth and shiny finish.
Universal Voltage – Allows for use anywhere in the world, so you can travel with it with ease.
Heat Guard – Silicone-feel heat guard comes with the purchase, so you don’t have to worry about the heat in storage or during travel.
Sleep mode – After 30 min, the styler will automatically shut off. No more of those panics when you realize you forgot to unplug your straightener.
9 FT Swivel Cord – This makes it easy to style at any angle. Plus, the cord length makes it so you don’t have to stand right next to the outlet–because we all know that sometimes they aren’t super conveniently placed.

Why It’s Worth It
Now, I’m not a hair guru by any means. My use and knowledge of hair styling tools is pretty limited, but all of the ghd Platinum+ features enticed me and made me think that even a beginner like me could use it. After I purchased it and registered it for the warranty, I learned how to curl my hair with a straightener. And, OMG… I’ve never been happier with how the styler performed, and how my hair looked afterward. My hair was perfectly waved and smooth and shiny, just like the website said. I also didn’t feel like my hair was super dry or brittle, and I didn’t once hear my hair sizzle when I was actually styling it. The Platinum+ is also perfectly designed; I didn’t have any problems holding it or twisting it to get the right curl. The design is sleek and minimal, and looks very pleasing to the eye.
Where to Buy
Here’s the one downside to the ghd: it’s $250 dollars. Now, after using it several times, I think it’s worth the price, especially if it’ll last me several years as I’ve read they do. But, I also know that not everyone can just drop that much cash for a straightener. I’ve linked some sites where you can get the ghd, and indicated which places sell the Platinum+ at a discount.
