How To Make The Most Out Of Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

With spring break right around the corner, it’s time to start planning how you’ll spend your well-deserved time off from classes and finals. While the stereotypical college spring break involves parties and trips to warm destinations, there are so many other ways to make the most of your time off. You can have meaningful experiences without spending a bunch on travel or lavish vacations.

Whether you want to take this time to pick up a hobby, catch up with friends, practice self-care, or concentrate on personal growth, there’s a spring break experience that’s right for you! Here’s how you can make the most of your time and return to school feeling refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the semester.

Do the things you’ve been meaning to do

There’s no doubt that reading chapters back to back and studying for exams can eat up a lot of your time. Spring break is the opportunity for you to do the things you’ve been meaning to do but might have not had time for during the semester. Whether you’ve been meaning to take a yoga class, pick up a new book, explore a new place near you, or catch up on your favorite TV show, take advantage of your break by doing the things you’ve wanted to do and bring you enjoyment.

Pick up a new hobby

Speaking of trying new things, a break from classes is the perfect time to try something new and pick up a new hobby! If you’re not sure about what you want to try, consider doing research and asking yourself, “what is something I’ve always wanted to learn how to do?” Finding a new hobby can be an exciting and fulfilling way to spend your spring break. You might discover a new interest or passion that can add to your life, so don’t be afraid to try something different and see where it takes you.

Invest in yourself

You might not have had time to truly relax and connect with yourself throughout the busy semester, but spring break is a time when you can focus on personal growth and self-care. This could look different for each person depending on your goals, but one way to do this is by setting aside time to self-reflect by journaling. This can help you gain a new perspective on your life and find areas where you’d like to improve. Another important portion of taking care of yourself is prioritizing your physical and mental health through self-care. By investing in yourself during spring break, you can come back to your classes feeling refreshed and confident in yourself!

Spend quality time with people who matter to you

Spring break is a great opportunity to spend quality time with people you care about. Whether it be with your friends, family, or significant other, this time off can give you the chance to reconnect and strengthen your personal relationships. Consider making plans such as exploring a nearby town, trying a new restaurant, or doing something active like going on a walk together. No matter what you choose to do, the most important thing is to spend time connecting with those who matter most to you. By creating this intentional time dedicated to another person, you can show them how much they mean to you and be surprised at how much closer you become.

As the semester continues to move forward, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the daily grind of studying and classes, so use your spring break to recharge and focus on the things that matter most to you!
