Are you a Jewish girl, looking to spice up your room for the holidays? There’s no reason to be envious of the Christmas decorations in your neighbors’ rooms – your digs can look just as festive with  Hanukkah decorations! My roommate and I have already started to decorate and I would love to share some helpful tips!

Start off with some HOLIDAY lights. These can be found at any local grocery or convenience store. Purchase two sets of colors: white and blue. By hanging up the lights and intertwining the Hanukkah colors together, your room will have a cozy and festive feel. After all, Hanukkah is the festival of lights!

Next, you can follow the Jewish tradition by purchasing a small yet stylish menorah. Since candles are obviously not allowed in the dorm rooms, pick up an electric menorah that can be safely stored in your dorm or apartment. The menorahs with the blue electric lights would go great with the Hanukkah lights already hanging up on the walls!

If you really want to go all out, Hanukkah banners work perfectly for the sides of the walls that are not covered by the blue and white lights.  These banners should be long enough to stretch from on corner of the wall to the other. Banners tend to have Hanukkah decorations such as menorahs, dreidels, and Jewish stars. Foil swirl streamer decorations in blue and white can also be added to the ceiling of the room for extra flair.

To add another touch, pick up some Hanukkah wrapping paper. Simply cut the wrapping paper to fit the width of your door. Then row by row, attach the wrapping paper onto the inside of your door until it is completely covered.

Finally, window decorations are the perfect finishing touch! Small stick-on decorations in the shape of any Hanukkah themed item can be attached to the inside of your room’s window. That way, even random passersby can see that your room is a Hanukkah wonderland!

I hope that you enjoy these helpful tips for Hanukkah-fying your room this holiday season! Have a happy holiday and enjoy your fabulous Hanukkah décor!
