Grace’s Playlist for When You Are Feeling: Angry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

I am back with another playlist, and this week is all about the feeling of anger. All of these tracks are perfect for post-breakup anger or just general anger at the world, and most are ideal for blasting at full volume. Keep reading for the perfect angry playlist!

“better than revenge” by taylor swift

This track is one of the most classic angry-breakup playlist songs and is one of Swift’s most angsty songs. If you have not heard it before, this song is about feeling like the person you like has been “stolen” from you by someone else. It is a song about revenge and jealousy and is perfect to scream at full volume.

“josslyn” by olivia o’brien

Olivia O’Brien is the queen of angsty breakup songs. This track is one of her most popular songs and is another great song to scream to at the top of your lungs. This song is about a love interest of hers who was not loyal to her. Unlike “Better Than Revenge,” O’Brien calls out this love interest rather than blaming the other girl involved.

“good 4 u” by olivia rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has taken over the angry breakup playlists. “good 4 u” is by far her most overtly angry song on her debut album Sour. This track might be the best one on this list if you want to scream lyrics as the chorus is essentially just Rodrigo shouting about this failed relationship that left her feeling angry and disrespected.

“happier than ever” by billie eilish

This is one of my favorite songs that Billie Eilish has released in a while. I think the lyrics are genius and that it perfectly captures the feeling of post-breakup anger. She reflects on a past relationship throughout this track and highlights the wrongs done to her by this former love interest.

“misery business” by paramore

I consider this track the cousin to “Better Than Revenge.” It is one of my favorite Paramore songs and is about getting the person you have wanted once they are single. More specifically, this track is basically just a brag that she “has” the love interest and the love interest’s ex does not. This is another perfect track to blast and scream the lyrics to.

“now” by olivia O’brien

I had to include another Olivia O’Brien song on this list because most of her breakup songs are angsty and make me feel angry on her behalf. This track is a more recent release of hers that is reflecting on a past relationship and how they might still be together if he had not messed it up.

“heartless” by kanye west

Most of the songs on this list are by women, as I think women make the best and most relatable angry songs. However, this Kanye West song has been one of my favorites for years and always makes me feel angry. Hence the track’s name, this song is a reflection on a past relationship that West believes was with a “heartless” woman.

“games” by lennon stella

This track has the slowest instrumental on this list; however, the lyrics, which depict a relationship that feels like a game, still make it a great song for when you are angry. Stella sings about feeling like she cannot win at the relationship and that she is done playing games with this love interest.

“mr. perfectly fine (taylor’s version) (From the vault)” by taylor swift

I think this track is the best “From the Vault” song from her re-recording of Swift’s album Fearless. Rumored to be about Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, this song is about a relationship in which her former love interest is seemingly fine post-breakup, while she is still mourning the loss of their relationship.

“don’t start now” by dua lipa

Dua Lipa has taken over the pop scene, especially since the release of her album Future Nostalgia. This track is about a former love interest coming back into her life and her rejection of his advances.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s playlist and add some of these angsty pop songs to your own playlists!
