End of the Semester Thoughts, as told by Dogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Here at Boston University, we’ve only got two weeks to go (or fewer), if you’ve been fortunate enough to have a early final exams. Campus is abuzz with a general mixture of happiness and stress, freedom and fear, warm weather and… being forced to miss out on it by doing homework in the library all day. While all good things must come to an end, I don’t think any of us are overly sad about no school and four months of sunshine and freedom. For the fortunate ones, we’re even heading back home to our favorite furry friends.

If the stress of the rapidly approaching essay deadlines and exam dates are getting to you, remember to keep wagging those tails, ladies. Finals week is upon us, but we’re all about to get our favorite treat in the end (not dog food, I promise. I’m talking about good grades). For the time being, consider taking a study break. (Wo)man’s best friend knows exactly how you’ve been feeling lately.

1. When homework has taken over your life and you haven’t had time to go to the gym in weeks.

Gotta get that cardio in while you can.

2. When your professor informs you that you have two essays due on the last day of class and multiple other deadlines before then.

Which one do you do first?!

3. When you’ve been in the library for hours and all you can think about is how desperately you want food.

It’s like a beautiful dream (until you remember Insomnia closes at 3 a.m.)

4. When you start daydreaming about all the adventures you’re about to have this summer.

Doggy paddling by a beautiful island in the Caribbean sounds nice.

5. When you’re getting worked up over everything and need to take a moment and think about your happy place.

Nothin’ but smiles here.

6. When you realize there’s only ONE week left to go.

It’s the best kind of surprise!

7. When you spend so much time thinking about lounging by the pool that you start swimming in your dreams.

No water necessary.

8. When you can’t seem to understand any of the material you need to know for the exam.

Life is hard when you’re sleep-deprived and you just don’t know what’s going on anymore.

9. When you’re that sleep-deprived.

…And you don’t remember who you are or what language you speak.

10. As in, you actually can’t keep your eyes open anymore.

The idea of sleeping ‘til summer and saying your dog ate your homework is sounding like a more credible plan each day.

11. When the weather’s nice, you just want to spend all day outside or driving around with the windows down.

Living the dream.

12. When you really can’t get it together.

…And you’re seriously considering searching “How to adult” on Google because your motivation and concentration has been buried in the backyard and no one will ever find out where you hid it. (That’s a dog joke.)

13. When you just want to head back home and let your parents take care of you again.

No shame in the infant game… Okay, maybe some shame.

14. And when you’re finally free.

Time to trade in the knitted sweater for a thinner dog collar.
