Cute Ways To Light Up Your Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

The cinderblock walls of your dorm probably feel nice and cozy after an entire semester between them; however, it doesn’t excuse the fact that they’re not, at least initially, particularly welcoming. Furthermore, with winter still dragging its feet through February, brightening them up never hurts. So, here are some cool and clever ways to add a little sparkle to your life – pun intended.

1. Add some Christmas lights on the ceiling, along the wall, or in the corner, and add some pictures along it. It’s adorable decoration, lights up your room and your pictures, and is a great conversation starter leading to humble bragging about your picture-worthy adventures.

2. Make a chic chandelier to accent that cinderblock with some cool shadows. It’s light without being all up in your face – perfection.

You can learn how to make your own DIY doily chandelier here: http://valeriepaperie.blogspot.com/2011/05/doily-ball.html.

3. Another light that’s more for decoration than for brightness is this amazing cloud and star combo. It’s quite picturesque to fall asleep to and way too romantic not to fall asleep to. What more could you ask for? You can get star-shaped lights at Target (http://www.target.com/p/room-essentials-solar-star-string-lights-30ct/-/A-16292977#prodSlot=medium_1_8&tempterm=star+lights)

4. An artsier version of the start lights is to put some constellation art on your wall. This is another DIY project, so check it out http://makezine.com/craft/how-to-diy-lighted-constellation-wall-art/.
