Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving have come and gone, Christmas is one of my favorite holidays as a curly girl.
Along with the holiday spirit and spending time with family after being away at college, I like to test out some of the new products I’ve been interested in for months, but have never gone through with. We all know some products can get pricey, especially when it’s time to restock. But if you’re struggling to put ideas together for your family, or trying to shop for the curly girl in your life (especially during Black Friday), here are some items I love or are on my wishlist this year!
- WavyTalk Turblow Pro Hairdryer
-
If you’ve been on the hair side of TikTok in the last six months, you’ve likely seen at least one product from WavyTalk. Their hair tools range from straighteners to thermal blowout brushes. My personal favorite is the Turblow Pro Hairdryer.
With three air speeds and four temperature settings, it’s cut my diffusing time in half compared to my old dryer, and the negative ions significantly reduce my frizz. The diffuser and concentrator attachments are magnetic, so they detach easily for storage. The dryer’s body is super lightweight too, reducing strain on my arm.
If you’ve been interested in switching from air drying to diffusing your hair, or if you need to replace your old dryer, this has been one of my favorite and most useful purchases.
- Bounce Curl Define/Volume Brush
-
I know, I know, I find a way to mention this brush a lot, but it really has made a difference when styling my hair! There are two different versions: one if you prefer defined curl clumps, and the other if you prefer bigger, more voluminous curls.
The price definitely raises eyebrows (mine included), which is why I put this on my list last Christmas. Well, let’s just say it delivered and continues to do so. However, I’m all for saving money, so I’m sure some dupes can work just as well.
- Fenty Hair Homecurl Defining Cream
-
Rihanna has taken over our self-care routines with Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and, most exciting to me, Fenty Hair.
For months, I’ve seen all of my favorite curly influencers rave about Homecurl. It’s like an all-in-one styler that adds hydration, hold, and definition, while also being silicone-free and featuring split-end repair. After seeing curly girls with all different hair types and textures having gorgeous results with this product, I knew it was going on my list so that I could try it out myself.
It also interested me because in the wintertime, or during finals season, I’m not always up for doing a full-out routine. However, I also don’t want to skip out on caring for my hair. This product checks every box.
- Rizos Curls Strong Hold Gel
-
Rizos Curls is another brand I hear lots of good reviews about, especially for their new Strong Hold Gel, which dropped in April of this year.
Similar to other gels, it advertises hold and definition. What really piqued my interest, however, were the claims that it’s flake-free, humidity-proof, for all hair types, and made with nourishing ingredients.
Typically, when you think of products with nourishing ingredients, you think of leave-ins and creams. So, hearing that these ingredients are in a gel also advertised as having a strong hold is a big reason why it made it on my list.
Slumber Cloud - Kitsch Satin Bonnet & Pillowcases
-
Up to this point, I’ve included products and tools for styling curls, but now here are two for protecting them. Either of these would make great gifts or items for your own wishlist if you’re not in need of any new tools or products.
I fell in love with the Kitsch Oversized Satin Bonnets this past summer. They come in multiple cute prints/colors, have ties to keep them on your head, and, most importantly, are double-lined with satin (but still don’t get too hot). I’d been using a bonnet I got on Amazon until I realized only the outside was satin, and the inside wasn’t actually protecting or preserving my hair.
If you’re not a fan of bonnets, no worries, I also love Kitsch’s Satin Pillowcases! I adore the way the bonnet and pillowcase pair together, but the pillowcase by itself feels just as amazing on my hair. As a bonus, I’ve also seen my acne get better, too!
I hope these suggestions were helpful, especially if you’ve hit a roadblock on ideas.
Give your curls a gift this season!
