A Collegiette’s Guide to Winter Makeup Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

As the seasons change, so should your go-to makeup looks. Winter is a chance to experiment with fun, bright, and dazzling makeup, especially as you attend Friendsgiving dinners, Secret Santa swaps, or any other holiday festivities! Take advantage of this winter to play around with your makeup and switch it up for these chilly months!

1. Bold Lips

Winter is the perfect opportunity to break out your boldest lip colors and sip hot chocolate at your holiday get-together. This year, switch it up by opting for a dark, rich maroon hue instead of the classic bright red. This sultry shade is sure to draw plenty of attention, and possibly even invite a kiss under the mistletoe! For a look that lasts all night long, make sure to line your lips with a matching pencil before applying your lipstick.

2. Glittering Eyes

Winter is the season for all things glitter, and that includes your makeup! To make your eyes pop, swap your go-to smoky eye for a sparkling golden eye shadow, concentrating the shadow on the inner corners of your eyes. For an even more dazzling look, use a gold glitter eyeliner to accent your classic black eyeliner, to really create eyes that shine! The dash of glitter is reminiscent of this season of lights, and is sure to brighten up your entire look!

3. Filled in Brows

This year has been all about brows, and winter is no exception! This season, try lightly filled in brows, using a brow gel with a brush applicator. Not only is this tool easy to use, but it also creates a look that is less harsh than when using a pencil. Brow gel can be a great product for creating a subtle difference in your brows, and adding a touch of sophistication to your overall look, which is perfect for adorable selfies in knit hats and chunky scarfs!

4. Rosy Cheeks

Even if you don’t typically wear blush, it can be a great addition to your makeup routine this winter season! A slight rosy tint on your cheeks can play off the natural redness bound to color your face in the winter winds. Also, it’s a playful touch to any makeup look, especially if there’s a hint of glitter! Choose a light pink cream blush, and apply with your fingers for a color that doesn’t fade throughout the day!

Of course, you can use these tricks separately for everyday wear, or combine them all for a stunning party look! However you choose to style these winter makeup looks, you’re sure to make an entrance anywhere you go this season!
