From Class to Clubs: One-Day Outfit Transformations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

When your last class ends on Friday, you can’t wait to take a break from all the academic stress and celebrate the weekend with friends. But sometimes it can be a struggle to find the energy to put together a new party-worthy look from scratch. The key is finding versatile pieces that can be used to dress up or down the basics you already own. How do you find styles that are comfy and casual for afternoon study sessions but still glam enough to hit the streets with your girls? Keep reading to learn how a few quick adjustments can instantly transform your image from the classroom to the dance floor.

1. Layers

If a new dress is perfect for dinner plans with friends, but you’re worried about it looking too fancy for your 9 a.m. discussion, try adding a cute jean jacket, a chunky belt, or patterned tights for a more day-friendly vibe. Then slip off the accessories to achieve simple sophistication.

2. Extra Bling

On the other end of the spectrum, use eye-catching jewelry to give a causal outfit some extra glamour. Adding a sparkly statement necklace and a pair of dangly earrings to your basic t-shirt and skinny jeans is an effortless way to invoke a chic street-style.

3. Night vs. Day Fabrics

Gain a whole new perspective on your wardrobe. Avoid looking like you’re trying too hard by pairing together contrasting materials such as a cotton tee with a sequin skirt or a sweet floral day dress with a structured leather jacket.

4. Level Up

Heels are the ultimate weapons in any fashionista’s closet for a reason! Simply swapping out your flip-flops for a pair of sky high sandals or peep-toe wedges will add a nighttime sexiness to even the most conservative of outfits. If your feet aren’t a fan of the traditional stiletto, get the same effect by rocking a pair of heeled leather boots.

 5. Vamp It Up

The simplest method for taking your style from class to the club with no wardrobe change necessary is by upping the drama on your makeup. Swiping on a matte red lip and an extra coat of mascara on the way out the door lends instant chic to a basic shirt-dress or strappy tank top.

No need to worry about splurging for a second closet or having to run back to your dorm multiple times in a day to change. Play around with what you’ve got and you’ll discover plenty of combinations that are perfect for both day and night!
