Whether buried in his School of Management books at the library, munching away in the GSU, or in the practice rooms of the College of Fine Arts, Benji Hadar has a busy schedule. But this is no surprise to him. He first decided to become a Terrier after hearing about all of the clubs on campus, specifically the A Capella clubs which he had gained a passion for in high school. In fact, he first started singing at age fourteen, as the character Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and has been addicted to the stage ever since. As a member of the Dear Abbeys for his second year on campus, Benji has been able to successfully make what drew him to BU, an integral part of his life. He has sung at hockey games in front of large crowds, toured California with his group, and met many other talented friends all over the Boston area.

“There is nothing as fun as being surrounded by people who have the same passions as you,” he says with a grin.

So what are some ways to win this talented nice Jewish boy over? Well, the first thing Benji says he notices about a girl are her eyes and their intensity. While you are making sure to keep your eyes wide open, be willing to gobble down his favorite food: fresh bagels, lox, and of course some whipped cream cheese spread. He will always be willing to cuddle up to his favorite movie, Cool Runnings, and on weekends he appreciates an adventorous soul, someone willing to travel to random new areas of the big city of Boston.

On this note, one of Benji’s favorite past dates was a small road trip. He drove with her all night, eventually to meet up with friends the next day. In the car, the two were just playing their favorite songs and belting the lyrics with both confidence and laughter. As if out of a movie, they proceeded to pull over on the side of road, hike up to the roof of the car, and watch the sun rise under the comforts of a blanket and each other’s arms.

The singer admired his date’s confidence, as he emphatically believes that every girl should build her self-assurance: “there is nothing sexier than that!”

Benji truly believes that he is honest with himself, and in a relationship, he always attempts to be honest with another. “Honesty is the best way to improve your relationship and make it grow stronger,” he said.

If this SMG student were to head out on a date with a girl in Boston, he would probably take her somewhere simple, for instance a small cafe. He would not try to intimidate the girl with a larger gesture, because he wants to spend that time to get to know her rather than awe her. Amid the conversation, he would be searching for that natural flow or chemistry that we all want to feel.

So be passionate, be confident, and touch up your eye make up for the next time you attend a Dear Abbeys concert!
