Back to Cool: Return of the Backpack

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Just like we have seen with the sneaker craze that has taken the fashion industry by storm, another once childlike accessory is reentering the fashion world as a must have for the fall. Whether you prefer to one strap it or double strap, there is no denying that backpacks are in fact back, and better than ever. Though it may be hard at first to separate backpacks from the thought of going to school, these bags have a bigger purpose than just carrying your history textbook.  Now you can take on your errands, shopping, or any daily activity HANDS FREE and in style. Who wouldn’t want that? There are so many different styles, sizes and brands putting their own spin on the trend,  so we’ve narrowed it down to some of our favorites!

1.     Lady Like Backpack- Zara

Small enough to carry around, yet big enough to hold the essentials, this bag is the perfect replacement for a handbag.  Its structure also makes it easy to tote around and dig through when you need to find your wallet or phone.

2.     Suede Fringe Julian Backpack- Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff has come out with a variety of styles of the Julian backpack.  This particular one combines two huge fall trends: suede and fringe. Plus, the front zip makes it super unique!

3.     Fawn Pilot Backpack- Rag & Bone

Though a little pricier, this Rag & Bone backpack will never go out of style.  The two-tone coloring makes it easy to pair with just about anything and, just like the Zara bag, the structure makes it super user friendly.

4.     Mini Suede Trim Fringe Backpack- TOPSHOP

This is another great option for an everyday bag that alleviates having to carry around a tote.  The suede is perfect for fall and the fringe adds a little extra detail to the look.

5.     Herschel Supple Co. Nelson Backpack- Urban Outfitters

Any Herschel bag is perfect for school. The denim fabric on this bag makes it so in right now! The size is great for holding books and it even has a compartment inside for your laptop.

6.     Cooperative Double Buckle Flap Backpack- Urban Outfitters

This last bag from Urban Outfitters combines style and practicality.  The two-tone leather and visible buckles make the bag extremely trendy while the size and structure add accessibility. You can easily wear this bag on your everyday excursions as well as to your lectures.
