Halloween is a time for outrageous costumes, candy bars, and scary movie marathons. But for those of us who aren’t into all the violence and gore of your classic horror flick, this means constantly changing the channel whenever Halloween or Nightmare On Elm Street comes on TV. This is why I have created a list of not-so-scary movies for us wimps out there who just want to watch some funny, light-hearted, Halloween-themed films.

1. Ghostbusters
?A comedy about four ghost hunters who capture meddlesome spirits with their high-tech weapons. Stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis.
2. Beetlejuice ?
This classic film is directed by Tim Burton, who is famous for making odd, dark films (perfect for Halloween!). Beetlejuice is a creature of the underworld who aids a newly deceased couple and their daughter as they deal with life on the other side. The film’s star-studded cast includes Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton.
3. Hocus Pocus
This is my favorite Halloween movie of all-time. It stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as three witch sisters who terrorize the town of Salem on Halloween after being awakened by a few curious teenagers. Talking animals, zombies, spell books, and magic cauldrons are all part of this October classic.
4. The Craft
?Although it is referred to as a “teen horror film,” The Craft is hardly scary at all. The plot centers around four teens that practice witchcraft and get into a mess of trouble. This very-90’s flick stars Robin Tunney, Rachel True, Fairuza Balk, and Neve Campbell.
5. Halloweentown
?If you’re looking for a wonderfully cheesy Disney Channel Original Movie, Halloweentown is the perfect choice! There are four Halloweentown movies, which are centered on the character of Marnie who battles evil forces that have invaded the land of Halloweentown, where everyday is Halloween.
6. Practical Magic ?
Another favorite of mine, this film stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The two play sisters who grew up living with their aunts, in a family that is cursed- quite literally- when it comes to love.
7. Scary Movie
?There are 4 Scary Movie films currently out, and rumors of a fifth being released in 2013. Some call these films stupid- and they are- but I find them hilarious! Anna Faris stars in the first four, which parody well-known horror flicks, like Scream and The Ring.
8. Harry Potter
?If you don’t know what Harry Potter is, then you must live under a rock…but just to recap, there are 8 films in this series- and the first, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is the best one to watch during October. The first movie is about how Harry realizes he is a wizard and discovers how to use magic, while making great friends and battling evil forces.
