Thanksgiving break is time to spend with friends and family and time to catch up on missed sleep; however, break is also time to treat yourself while you’re off campus and out of class. What better way to treat yourself than to binge on the hottest Netflix shows? Lounging in your pajamas with your laptop may be the best and most relaxing way to spend your time with the craziness of finals looming. Here are eight of the best television shows that will allow you to indulge in a little “me time” before heading back to school.

1. Mad Men

If you’re anything like me and feel like you were born in the wrong era, then Mad Men is definitely the show for you. Set in New York City during the 60s, this show follows the mysterious life of the creative director of a big-time New York advertising agency, as well as all of his scandalous escapades. The costumes, the music and heartthrob-actor, Jon Hamm, make this the ideal “me time” show.

2. Scandal

I may be a bit biased being from Washington D.C. myself, but I feel that this is one of the best shows on the air today. The title itself says it all; Scandal is rich with juicy, scandalous drama. Olivia Pope is lawyer to D.C.’s political elite, specializing in covering up their most salacious of scandals. Kerry Washington plays the ultimate girl-power maven. Despite her ability to rock a chic grey suit, she can’t escape the scandals that surround her.

3. Orange is the New Black

This Netflix original series is the definition of the ideal binge-television show. Orange is the New Black follows Piper Chapman as she has leave behind her fiancé and normal life to serve time at an all-women’s federal prison for a minor infraction from years past. As both a comedy and drama, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll meet surprisingly lovable convict characters along the way.

4. Freaks and Geeks

Freaks and Geeks is one of the most underrated shows in television history. Although it only stuck around for one short season, it is certainly worth a watch. You’ll recognize some of your favorite comedians– James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jason Segal– back when they were trying to get in with the “cool crowd” in high school. Play a game and see how many famous faces you can spot throughout Freaks and Geeks.

5. Arrested Development

Whether or not you’ve already seen this show before, it’ll make for a great Thanksgiving break TV binge. Watch the hilarities of TV’s quirkiest and most loveable family, the Bluths, and be reminded that your family could be a lot crazier than you believe them to be. There’s no way you won’t be in hysterics.

6. Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Speaking of crazy families, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is some of the best, mindless reality TV you can watch while relaxing your mind before finals. See Kim pre-Kanye, Kendall pre-modeling career and Kris and Bruce pre-divorce. Scott’s crazy meltdowns make for some great entertainment as well.

7. Gossip Girl

Revisit the early years of one TV’s most coveted shows and relive all of the drama, relationships and unforgettable wardrobes. If you are a new  Gossip Girl fan or have never seen the show before, now is your chance to jump on the bandwagon–and get some great fashion advice.

8. Portlandia

Portlandia is the great, little indie show that you’ve never heard of; Starring Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live, along with comedian partner-in-crime Carrie Brownstein, this show is a series of sketches, lovingly poking fun at the hipster town of Portland, Oregon. Portlandia has quirky, untraditional humor, but it surely won’t disappoint you.
