Love it or hate it you won’t be able to avoid the hippie inspired clothing this season. Stores are filled with everything from bell-bottom pants that will make you wonder what era you’re in to more modern approaches. The bell-bottom pants are a little too extreme for me but, hey, if you can pull it off go for it! A more decade appropriate version of bell-bottom pants would be a slightly flared pair of jeans. Just look at Rachel Zoe, Heidi Klum, and Nicole Richie rocking them!
If you’re still not loving the 70’s, how about giving bell sleeves a try? My favorite is the gorgeous “Gypsy Lace Dress” from Free People ($128). It’s a modern lace dress but the sleeves give it a very laid back feel. This is the perfect way to achieve a bohemian look without looking like you walked off the set of Dazed and Confused.
If you still think the sleeves are too much, a simpler approach would be vintage band tees or any kind of distressed/faded tee. This tee (Free People $58) paired with a simple pair of jeans or a maxi skirt would work, but some vintage inspired accessories such as round sunglasses or chunky shoes would definitely add to the outfit!
