7 Must Have Makeup Items That Will Change Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

For most women, there are few things that are as satisfying as finding a makeup product that fits all of their needs. Unfortunately, these universally coveted products are rare. We’ve all spent hours in our local Sephora searching for that one product that will complete our beauty stash, but many of us have trouble sorting through the multitude of products that line the shelves. Luckily, we’ve found seven products that work for almost every skin tone, provide long wear and have the beautiful pigmented colors every makeup lover craves.

1. Champagne Pop highlighter by Becca Cosmetics and Jaclyn Hill

2014 was all about contouring and bronzer. 2015, however, is the year of the highlighter. Women everywhere seem to be determined to pack on the sparkle and make themselves glow. Finding a good highlighter to do so has become something of a challenge. That’s where the limited edition Champagne Pop highlighter comes into play. Makeup junkies and YouTube binge-watchers are familiar with both Becca Cosmetics and Jaclyn Hill. Hill, a makeup artist from Florida, has teamed up with Becca Cosmetics to provide women with a single-shade highlighter that looks good on EVERY skin tone. Whether you have dark skin or porcelain complexion, this highlighter will work for you. The best part? It’s super sparkly!

2. Solstice eyeshadow by Urban Decay

Urban Decay is best known for their line of “Naked” eyeshadow palettes. Their best kept secret, however, is their individual eyeshadow compacts. The Solstice color in particular is a universally flattering sparkle shadow that’s a stunning mix of reds, purples, and blues that change shades in the light. Solstice is fun, unique, and will have you blushing from all the compliments you’ll get.

3. Stila liquid eye liner

Widely considered to be the best liquid liner on the market, the Stila liquid liner comes in every shade from hot pink, to cool turquoise, and your every day black. This liner is perfect for beginners because it’s very forgiving and easy to apply. The best part is the thin felt tip that will provide you with the sharpest pointed wings on campus.

4. Diva lipstick by MAC

Finding the perfect red lipstick is a challenge that most women face but few overcome. The color ‘Diva’ is a beautiful, deeply pigmented, rich red that glides on your lips like butter. It’s a stunning, mysterious red that will flatter almost every skin tone, making it a must-have for bold lip lovers.

5. Diorshow mascara by Dior

Some things are worth the splurge and Diorshow is one of them. If you’re looking for thick, long, and voluminous lashes that perfectly frame your eyes then head to your nearest Sephora and pick up a tube of Diorshow. It’ll be the only time you don’t regret spending nearly thirty dollars on a mascara.

6. Eyelash curler by Shu Umera

Shu Umera made a name for himself by inventing what is possibly the best eyelash curler on the market. It’s curved shape and soft cushion provide the strong hold you need to get the boldest, most unapologetically curly lashes that everyone longs for.

7. CC Cream by IT Cosmetics

If you want good coverage but don’t like the heaviness of most creams or foundations, then the CC Cream by IT Cosmetics is for you. It has SPF, primer, moisturizer, and color correcting properties all in one tube. It’s essentially your one stop shop for face makeup. The best part? It’s so lightweight it’ll feel like you’re not wearing any makeup.
