Ahh fall. It’s finally slapped us in the face here in Boston. When you walk to class down scenic Comm Ave, you get bumped into by a huge, chilly gust of wind. What’s the thing beside your trusty coat that will save the day? A blanket scarf! Today, I am going to show you 6 ways that your blanket scarf will become your new best friend. I bought mine on sale from JCrew about 3 years ago!

Here I am getting slapped in the face by that beautiful Boston wind! Gotta love it!

Scarf

This is method of wearing a blanket scarf is the most obvious. That being said, a blanket scarf is better than most scarves because there’s so much extra fabric, allowing far more warmth. I like to loosely and quickly wrap mine around my neck, no complex method here!

Shawl

If you’re out and about and forgot your cardigan, don’t fret! Fold your scarf into a triangle and drape the two tails of the triangle over your shoulders. And there you have it! A cardi on the go!

Skirt

For this next look, you’ll want to make sure you have some leggings or black jeans on underneath. Fold the scarf so that it’s a little bit more opaque and rectangular. Wrap and tie around your waist for an elevated, layered look.

Hood/ Make Shift Umbrella

This is for that unfortunate moment when Boston’s weather forecast says there’s no chance of rain, and it pours. This calls for desperate measures. Fold your blanket scarf into a triangle once again. Make sure the farthest point is facing down and backward, place onto the top of your head. Then cross the tails over and behind your neck and voila!!!

Picnic blanket

Wanna have a last minute picnic at the Public Gardens? Use your scarf as a picnic blanket.

Regular blanket

For the classrooms that are too chilly, or for the study sessions in the library that become late night, your scarf is so large that it makes for the perfect blanket!

A big hug and shout out to my bestie, Nicole Masnicak for taking these photos. You can see more of her photography on her Instagram, @nicolemasnicak.
