5 Trader Joe’s Holiday Sweet Treats You Need

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

December is rapidly approaching, the leaves are falling, the temperature is dropping, and Trader Joe’s is filled with the best winter holiday goods. If you walk through any aisle, you’ll find an abundance of products with special holiday packaging just waiting for you to take them home. But, how does one decide which seasonal snack they need in their life when there are so many good options to choose from? Fear not — I’m sharing the five items I’m excited for this year to give you a little more guidance for your next TJo’s trip.

Peppermint Bark Popcorn

For some reason that I still do not understand, sweet popcorn has become a staple holiday treat in America. And while Trader Joe’s could have easily put their spin on the absurd popcorn buckets with completely stale kernels, they perfected the concept with Peppermint Bark Popcorn. Each piece of popcorn is individually coated in peppermint white chocolate goodness, which makes an easily snackable treat even harder to put down. Plus, the packaging is an adorable little reindeer buddy, so how could you resist?

Mini Gingerbread Men

When I say that these little dudes changed my outlook on the whole of the gingerbread community, I mean it. Well, they’ve also raised my expectations for other gingerbread cookies, but at least I now approach the Christmas cookie classic. Coated with a layer of white chocolate on the bottom, they offer your tastebuds a balance of spicy and sweet that goes perfectly with a cup of hot apple cider. Plus, they are mini and cute which definitely heightens your snacking experience.

Hold the Cone Peppermint and Mini Stroopwafel Ice Cream Sandwiches

When thinking of my favorite seasonal sweets, I knew I had to include both of the iconic ice cream section champions. If you’re not familiar with the mini wonder that is Hold the Cone, the peppermint flavor is the perfect opportunity to try them out. And it’s pretty hard to put into words the emotions Mini Stroopwafel Ice Cream Sandwiches make me feel. It may be cold outside, but once you’re in the safety of your home it’s time to head to the freezer for your fix.

Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe’s

As controversial as it may sound, I do prefer Trader Joe’s take on the cookie sandwich in comparison to certain name brand products. They are especially exceptional when given a holiday spin, this season’s being the dark chocolate-covered peppermint cookies. These are sure to be a favorite at any holiday get together, study date, or as your own personal snack craze — but who are we kidding, you’re not gonna want to share.

Countdown Calendars

While this technically isn’t a snack item, it is definitely the sweetest treat you can give yourself in December. Each bit of chocolate and door opened in any of the cute Trader Joe’s calendars will remind you how magical the season really is. You can take turns opening the days with your roommates, stock up on treats and open them every five days, or follow the traditional method of day-to-day participation. Either way, it will start off your season of giving with a treat for yourself.

If you’re in need of some holly and jolly action, you definitely need to try out these seasonal treats. And if you’re extra spirited, pair them with a cute gingerbread house kit.
