But fear not, HCers! There are plenty of places in the Boston area (walking distance, yay!) to compile that one-of-a-kind costume without breaking the bank.
1. Garment District/ Boston Costume – 200 Broadway, Cambridge, MA
Take a ride on the T or walk over to Cambridge to the biggest Halloween Costume store you can find around BU. On the first floor there are tons and tons of Halloween costumes to choose from. If you rather make your own costume, the second floor is stocked with tons of gently used vintage clothes and accessories.
2. Newbury St.
Newbury St. is chock full of stores for the last-minute costume shopper! Places like Forever 21, H&M, American Apparel and Urban Outfitters have some cheap accessories and outfits for a unique DIY costume.
3. Dorothy’s Boutique – 190 Massachusetts Ave. Boston, MA
Dorothy’s Boutique is filled with costumes, masks, shoes, hats, wigs, bags, beauty supplies and other exciting things that can be thrown together for a spectacular Halloween look.
4.Good Will – 965 Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA
If you live in West, this is the perfect stop for you! Good Will is home to hundreds of cheap vintage pieces to complete any Halloween costume.
5. Your friends’ closets
If it’s really the eleventh hour and you don’t have time to (or don’t want to) buy anything for your Halloween costume, simply take a quick visit your friends’ closets! Swapping wardrobes with friends means better odds for the perfect “homemade” costume!
