5 Trendy Halloween Costumes You Already Have In Your Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to get your costumes ready. I’m the type of person that plans my outfits a month in advance, but for those of you who prefer a more last-minute approach, I’ve got you covered. These five trendy Halloween costumes are unique but so easy to recreate with items you already have in your wardrobe!

Tooth fairy

I’ve never seen anyone with a tooth fairy Halloween costume before, and if I didn’t have my Britney Spears looks locked down, this is what I’d be wearing. I think this costume would be adorable with a lacy or sparkly cropped tank, a flowy mini skirt, and of course lots of body glitter. Add some fairy wings and a tooth necklace, both of which are available on Amazon, and you’ve got yourself a creative costume! If you have a partner, they could match you as a dentist.

Cheetah Girl

Reuse some of the Y2K-inspired pieces you’ve collected over the summer and build a costume around the animal print trend! This costume idea is one of my favorites because it can work solo or with a group of friends. Any cheetah print items you have will do, and if you’ve got a tracksuit and headband to supplement, your outfit will look even more cheetah-licious.

barbie

Barbie is a fantastic, yet underrated, Halloween costume idea. Grab all your pink garments, and you’re good to go. If you want to spice things up, a blonde wig is a must. And if you fell into the summer jelly sandal trend like me, those shoes will make perfect Barbie heels! Additionally, you can make this a group costume by assigning every friend a different themed Barbie — Swan Lake Barbie is my personal favorite.

Butterfly

I can’t be the only one with tons of butterfly print pieces in my closet. Make good use of the style and dress up as this gorgeous insect for Halloween. Plus, if you’re looking for two different Halloweekend costumes, you can repurpose the tooth fairy costume wings for this look too.

pirate

Now’s your chance to bust out one of your corset tops. Bustiers and corset-style shirts have been seriously trending this year, and a pirate would definitely approve of the fashion. This costume also gives you the opportunity to get a little sexier if that’s what you’re looking for. Add stockings and a mini skirt for the perfect pirate look.

I hope you’ve been inspired to use what’s already in your closet this Halloween. I’m so excited to see what spooky season has in store for us all!
