5 Fall Fashion Staple Pieces and How to Style Them

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

The weather is getting cooler, the leaves are changing, and the Halloween spirit is brewing, which can only mean that fall has begun. Fall is my favorite season for all of those reasons, but it is especially my favorite because of the fashion. The colder weather lets you layer sweaters, turtlenecks and anything else you want to feel the fall vibe.

Even though you aren’t going out as much this season, you can still dress up in your dorm room to get into the autumnal mood. So, here’s how you can style five fall fashion staples:

Sweaters

Wearing a sweater is like embracing the first signs of fall. It is cozy, warm, and gets anyone into the fall mood. There are also so many varieties. Because it isn’t freezing cold yet, you can wear lighter sweaters and layer a collared shirt underneath. Then, on colder days, you can wear a thicker wool sweater with a turtleneck or mock neck paired with jeans.

Boots

Boots are another way to spice up a fall outfit. My favorite pair are Dr. Martens, but there are many other brands and styles out there. Pair the boots with longer socks, or switch out the laces for a new look.

Sweatshirt

If you’re looking for a more laid-back fall look, sweatshirts are perfectly comfy for study days, especially as we’re getting closer to midterm season.

Corduroy Pants

For more texturized clothing into your wardrobe, corduroy pants are a great addition. They can be worn with a graphic t-shirt or blouse tucked into pants. They’re very versatile for a casual or more formal look.

Blazer

The last fall staple is a blazer. Now, this might seem a little far-fetched, but the academia aesthetic works well in the fall because of how neutral and clean a blazer makes an outfit look. You can pair it with a mock neck shirt and a pair of jeans.

Hopefully, you can take some of these short style tips to make your fall wardrobe warm and cozy.
