5 Boston “Cocoa Cafes” You Have To Try!

There’s nothing better on a cold Boston day than a cup of hot chocolate. Sure, you can go to the Starbucks in SMG or on Comm. Ave, but why not try some real homemade specialty hot chocolate that’s right around campus?! There’s no denying collegiettes here at BU are experts at finding those hidden gem coffee shops, and these 5 places can become your very own hidden gem cocoa shops! All of them offer other delicious desserts, pastries, and snacks and they have websites will full menus! My personal favorite is the Paris Creperie, which also has a food truck!!

Burdick Chocolate Shop & Café

Locations: Harvard Square & 220 Claredon Street Boston

Specialties: Dark, White, and Milk hot chocolates. Better known as their special “drinking chocolates”, these are thick and creamy and can compliment any of the delicious pastries Burdick is also known for.

Caffe Vittoria

Location: The North End – 290 Hanover Street

Specialties:  Known as the first Italian café in Boston, they specialize in The “Italian Hot Chocolate” or “Cioccolatto Caldo” made from thick Italian chocolate and topped with delicious whipped cream. Caffe Vittoria also has pastries and a full café menu.

Thinking Cup

Locations: The North End – 236 Hanover St. & Boston Common – 165 Tremont St.

Specialties: The thinking cup is located right near Caffe Vittoria in the heart of the North End on the famous Hanover Street. They specialize in the delicious French Hot Chocolate and also have awesome chocolate croissants!

Max Brenner’s

Location: 745 Boylston St.

Specialties: If you haven’t already been to Max Brenner’s you’re definitely missing out. Literally EVERYTHING is chocolate or has chocolate elements and its sooo good! It’s more on the expensive side, but Max Brenner’s is a place you definitely need to experience! Besides their endless dessert menu and they have extensive hot chocolate selection that starts with a classic hot chocolate and goes to ones like marshmallow, chocolate crunch, and extra thick. You can get all of them in milk, white, or dark chocolate.

Paris Creperie

Locations: Coolidge Corner – 278 Harvard St. (They also have a food truck and its location changes depending on the day, and those can be found on their website!)

Specialties: NUTELLA. And Nutella everything! Besides Nutella Crepes and Nutella-dipped strawberries, they have frozen Nutella Hot Chocolate and their classic Nutella Hot Chocolate. It’s made from their own special blend of steamed milk and Nutella.
