4 Things to Do in Boston to Get Hyped for the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

The temperature has dropped below 40 degrees, people have broken out their big coats, and there are only a few weeks left in the semester, which means one thing: the holidays are coming. And while we can’t exactly dive head-first into the holiday spirit just yet, there are still a few ways to welcome this joyous season. Here are a few things to do around the city to get you excited for the celebrations.

Go ice-skating with friends.

No winter season is complete without an ice skating session. Bring out your inner Michelle Kwan and glide through some of Boston’s best ice-skating rinks. Once the city opens up its best rinks to us, round up all your besties and hit the ice. With Christmas music blasting as you try your best to get around the rink, you’ll surely be feeling merry and bright. Plus, the Boston Common Frog Pond offers a discounted price to all college students every Tuesday night.

Plan a hot chocolate hunt!

On especially cold nights, hot chocolate is surely the best thing to keep you cozy and comfy. Take advantage of Boston’s amazing cafes by planning a cocoa hunt with your best pals. You can start farther away from home and make your way back for a warm night in with homemade cups of the good stuff. And you should definitely include L.A. Burdick’s iconic hot chocolate selections. They are sure to give you a sugar rush into the holiday vibes.

Catch a holiday film in theaters.

If you’re a holiday film buff like me, November is the best month for catching the latest seasonal release or tuning into a classic. One must-watch new release is Last Christmas, based on the amazing Wham! Christmas jam with a star-filled cast. But if you’re a pure classicist who just needs their fix before Freeform is in full swing, fear not — Regal’s Classic Holiday Movie Series will have you in the festive feels.

Explore Boston City Hall Christmas Village.

Each year during the holidays, Boston City Hall hosts a super cute Christmas Village with enough fun and merriment to make for a perfect seasonal hangout. With cute gift shops, delicious holiday treat stands, an ice-skating rink of its own and much more, you’ll be jingling all the way into finals. While City Hall hasn’t posted the exact dates for this year, it’s safe to say the Christmas Village will be open in a matter of weeks.

I hope these fun and festive options will have you prepared to conquer the rest of the season and have the best holiday season ever.
