4 Inspirational Quotes from Mean Girls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

On this momentous fictional day in 2004, Aaron Samuels asked Cady Heron what day it was. The world has never been the same since. Thus, October 3rd was dubbed National Mean Girls Day.

While this movie has become a classic due to its quotability and cringe-worthy high school hierarchy, it has also provided us with some words of wisdom along the way. Here’s a look at some of the more sweet, less mean side of the classic hit!

1.We all wish that we could bake a cake made of rainbows and smiles

Despite the cruelty of the meanest girls at school, this tortured soul just wants everyone to get along. Even though she “doesn’t even go here”, can’t we all relate to this sometimes?

2.Stop letting the haters control you

Before Taylor Swift sang it, Kevin from Mean Girls was preaching optimistic sentiments about being yourself despite the haters. There are always going to be people who try to knock you down, but Kevin’s words of wisdom still ring true!

3.Self-love is important

Shoutout to Damian for reminding us to love ourselves. We all need that reminder once in awhile, set to music and sung on stage at a high school talent show.

4. Sometimes you just have to indulge

Although it is hard to find positive inspiration in Regina George, we have all said some version of this sentence before. Sometimes you just have to let yourself relax and eat everything in sight with no guilt. Just avoid those strange protein bars…

Mean Girls has become an iconic film, celebrated for its recognition of teen struggles combined with ruthlessly mean and wonderfully stereotypical characters. Hopefully, these few optimistic quotes brightened your day. Don’t forget to wear pink this Wednesday, and happy October 3rd!
