3 Ways to Amp Up Your Makeup This Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

With a new season comes new beauty trends and new ways to change up your makeup look. Spring makeup is all about bright colors, glowing skin, and a pretty flush on your cheeks. Here are three makeup tips to achieve the perfect look!

1. Use a makeup setting spray with your foundation

Although flawless, matte skin was in for the winter, spring calls for a more dewy and natural complexion as the weather warms up. A great way to achieve this look is by mixing a makeup setting spray with your foundation. To do this, spray your face a few times with your makeup setting spray before applying your foundation, or spray your foundation brush (or whatever tool you use to apply your foundation) with your makeup setting spray before blending.

This will give your face a more effortless, skin-like look and stop your foundation from looking too heavy. A setting spray will also help your makeup last all day!

2. Add a hint of blue to your eye makeup

This past New York Fashion Week, hints of blue showed up everywhere on the runway—including on the eyelids. A glossy hint of blue on your eyes will put you on trend this spring and give your makeup a pop of color.

To get this look without going all out, you can add a bit of turquoise blue eyeliner to your lower lash line and blend it out for a subtle hint of hazy blue. Add a few coats of mascara to your lower lashes and you’re good to go!

3.  Use peaches and pinks on your lips and cheeks

For winter, a sharp, matte contour and a vampy lip was everything. But with springtime approaching, peaches and pinks are the way to go for a more natural look. Pairing a peachy cheek with a glossy pink lip is perfect for an everyday spring look.

The peachy blush pictured above is Milani’s blush in the shade “Luminoso.” It’s a great blush shade for any skin tone and will give you the perfect spring flush for a great price.

Now that you’re armed with these new beauty tips for the spring, it’s time to test them out—let us know what you think!
