Right now, you may be wondering what Below Deck is rather than why you should watch it. I’ve actually never met anyone in my daily life who watches it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worthy of your attention!

The show follows the crew of a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean or Caribbean as they go about their job of giving a fabulous vacation to rich and demanding tourists. Naturally, putting eight young people in close quarters for a few months leads to everything you could want out of a reality show–workplace drama, romance, near-death experiences and more.

Also, most of the cast changes each season, so if you get sick of some people (which you’re likely to do), you can say goodbye at the end of the season. Now, if I could only do that on Grey’s Anatomy…

While the crew can be dramatic, so can the guests, often doubly so. For example, in the most recent season, a group of guests were offended at receiving a delicious roast chicken for dinner, saying that “chicken is what poor people eat.”

Additionally, for most of their time on the yacht, the rotating groups of guests are almost constantly drinking, and get rowdier, meaner and more entertaining as time goes on.

All in all, watching an episode or five of Below Deck is the perfect way to escape your problems, have a good laugh and live vicariously through the guests being waited on. Could you want anything more from a reality show?
