Meet Rachel Terry, 2018 Alum

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryn Mawr chapter.

Rachel and I share a common interest in fashion and both happen to be math majors. I got to know Rachel really well my sophomore year when we took a math class together and would meet up on a weekly basis to work on homework together. It’s been so fun getting to know her and I’m so sad that she’s graduated, but she’s on to bigger and better things, so check out what she’s up to!

Major: Mathematics

Minor: French

Class: 2018 :)

What’s something people should know about you?

I love Taylor Swift! I also love to dance and travel.

What’s something people should know about you? (answered by a friend)

When I laugh really hard, I usually end up crying (but they are happy tears).

Why did you choose Bryn Mawr, and why did you choose to stay?

I chose Bryn Mawr because when I visited, I loved the people that I met. I also thought that if I didn’t go, I would always wonder what my experience there might have been like. The traditions are what drew me to Bryn Mawr and what kept me there. I was also excited about the Honor Code.

What’s your favorite memory from your time at Bryn Mawr?

Hell Week, May Day, much of my Senior Year and relaxing moments on campus with friends. During traditions, especially Hell Week, there is such a wonderful energy on campus that I absolutely love.

What’s your favorite way to relax? / What’s your favorite method of self-care?

Spending time with friends and family is what relaxes me and makes me happy. I like to get my work done as soon as possible, and then I can have fun afterward and not be stressed out.

How do you think Bryn Mawr has prepared you for life post-grad?

Especially during my Senior year, I became a lot more confident and outgoing. I befriended many of the Frosh in my hall and was able to balance work and fun better than any other year. I am trying to continue this in my post-grad life and make the most of each day and experience.

What are your favorite spots in Bryn Mawr or Philly?

My favorite spots on campus are the cloisters and the Senior Steps.

What are some things you’re up to, and how can we support you?

I am currently pursuing a masters in International Fashion and Luxury Management at Institut Français de la Mode in Paris, France. It is everything that I wanted, and I am very excited about it! I am also looking forward to connecting with alumnae in Paris!
