Seen through the doors of the exterior entrance to Carpenter, the architecture of the door frames one of Bryn Mawr’s most famous dorms, Rockefeller. Donated by the famous John D. Rockefeller, this building is a popular one to photograph, professionally and for student social media accounts.

This staircase, usually hidden to students behind tightly locked doors, is the spiral staircase of Pembroke West that leads to the roof. While walking through, it feels like time has been frozen, as nothing has been changed since the dorm first opened. Access to the roof and basement of the dorm is provided by these stairs.

Tucked away in a corner of Erdman is another spiral-like staircase. It fits the architecture of the rest of the dorm, and provides access to two floors for students, if they can find these, that is. Not commonly used, these stairs are another hidden treasure of dorm life.
