I get it. Through this long, monotonous quarantine along with the stresses of Zoom University, we have all faced ice cream cravings. An ice cream sundae with melting chocolate or caramel topped with fruit, cookies, or even more chocolate… Who doesn’t want this? However, we know that ice cream isn’t the healthiest option and nice cream is a wonderful alternative. Follow the simple steps below and you’ll have a delicious dessert ready.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cubes of ice
  • 1/2 of water, milk, or milk substitute
  • 1 whole banana (frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon or more of nut butter (optional; I recommend this if you want your nice cream to be thicker)

Directions:

  1. Put all the ice cubes into the blender, add half a cup of water, almond milk or regular milk, frozen banana, and then blend.

  2.  Add sugar and nut butter.

  3. Blend some more until it has a consistency of soft serve. Bon appetit!

Variations and Suggestions for Your Nice Cream:

Although the nice cream is good by itself, it’s even better if you add toppings or other flavorings.

Suggested Toppings:

  • Coconut shavings

  • Nuts (Almonds, peanuts, cashews, etc.)

  • Dried fruit (especially cranberries and dried pineapple)

  • Whipped cream

  • Wafers (a healthier option to cookies)

  • Fresh fruit

Suggested Flavorings:

  • Vanilla (add ⅛ teaspoon of vanilla extract while blending)

  • Cinnamon

  • Orange (add orange peel on top after blending)

  • Coffee (add already-prepared coffee either while blending or after blending to make an affogato)
