School has begun, and while I’m grateful to be back on campus again, things are definitely different. To manage the new social distancing rules and all the time I spend with myself, I’ve started making a real hodge-podge of a playlist to keep me company. Here are 5 of the songs I have found comfort in!

Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush

Wuthering Heights is the perfect excuse for me to get up and dance as wildly as I want around the room as I imagine myself on the moors of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel of the same name. Not only is the song a classic, but it’s also become my favorite TikTok trend wherein you dress similar to Kate Bush in her music video for the song.

Lose Control by Glass Animals ft. Joey Bada$$

Another song I feel like I can work hard to, Lose Control is the perfect mix of vibey Glass Animals and the badassery that is, obviously, Joey Bada$$. It’s somewhere between the song the villain in a movie arrives to and the hero’s final arc. You’ll feel on top of the world!

Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.

Another oldie but a goodie! Now that it’s getting close to fall, I’m ready to break out the candy and cheesy vampire movies (see: The Lost Boys) and enjoy the spooky season. Ghostbusters is just one of those songs that reminds you why Halloween is one of the best holidays ever.

Tangerine by Glass Animals

Dreamland was released back in August, the first album in four years to come from Glass Animals. As a longtime fan, I was ecstatic and found this to be my favorite song on the new album. It’s the kind of song you can play and dance around to with friends (masked and socially distanced, of course).

Paparazzi by Lady Gaga

I like to put on this throwback when getting ready in the morning so I can sing to my reflection in the mirror. There’s just something about Gaga’s Fame album that makes me feel confident and it’s my favorite way to start the day.
