What’s Cuffing Season?

It’s winter; it gets dark early and all you want to do is snuggle with bae.  As the weather becomes colder, we supposedly start looking for a steady partner subconsciously.  This, everyon, is known as “cuffing season.”

We checked out how some other sources defined cuffing season.  

Urban Dictionary: “During the Fall and Winter months people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves along with the rest of the world desiring to be ‘Cuffed’ or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed.”

Vogue: “Cuffing season is actually the period of time between fall and the dead of winter when people start searching for someone with whom they can spend the those long, frigid months.”

Oxygen: “Cuffing season is the season to get tied down to something real. When it’s just too cold to go outside, you’ll be glad to be cuffed to someone special.”

So apparently we are all looking for someone to keep us busy when we are cold and lonely.  Immediately we want to deny this fact, but when we think of our past relationships, when did they become official?  If it was late fall and winter. Maybe cuffing season is thing, after all.

Think about a typical weekend in the winter.  Watching Netflix in bed sounds pretty great.  Who would want to trade their comfy robe and sweats for dresses and crop tops?  Probably few do.  That’s why it’s great to have a guy in your life.  Spending a night in, netflix and chilling is exciting with a new man and can be just as fun as a frat party.  With that in mind, who can deny that cuffing season actually exists?
