What Happens When the Roommate Honeymoon Phase Ends?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Coming back to school after a long summer break, everyone is more than thrilled to see their new (or old) roomies. All summer we have corresponded and discussed decorations, parties and food. The first few months of school with our roomies is what us collegiates like to call “the honey moon phase,” and it goes something like this…

Moving in is like a giant party, you and your roomie(s) love each other to death, help each out carry in things, and share almost too much.

Planning roomie bonding activities like movie nights happens just about every day. Snuggles and popcorn for everyone!

You share clothes, shoes, makeup and food without ever complaining

Then someone stains your favorite shirt that you haven’t worn before and all hell breaks loose, the honeymoon stage is ending…

Someone keeps eating someone else’s corn muffins and tensions are running high…

You are all sick of that one person who never cleans up after themselves.

They might as well give your roomies their own tv series because these fights are as bad as the Real Housewives of Orange County…

But when it comes down to it… what do you really expect when there are multiple girls living in a small space sharing a bathroom. We love hard but hate harder… At the end of the day though, these will always be our best memories and our best friends.
