The Unwritten Rules of Social Media (Written)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

I. Thou shall never ever like your own picture/post/video.That’s right ladies and gents… STOP LIKING YOUR OWN PICTURES. We don’t care if you needed one more like to reach eleven, just don’t do it. No explanation needed.

II. Thou shall not use any social platform to air your dirty laundry.Keep your dirty little secrets as secrets! Do not go to Facebook with your problems. People will laugh at you, not feel bad, when you start calling out your ex-boyfriend for cheating on you with your best friend to your 1,897 Facebook friends.

III. Thou shall not over edit yourself. We love looking good. Who doesn’t? But there is a point where the Perfect 365 app just goes too far with the Valencia filter heavily applied over it. People like pictures that look like you, not an overdone Barbie doll.

IV. Thou shall not over publicize your relationship.Okay, okay, okay we get it! You have been dating your boyfriend for 4 months and 27 days, and we have seen the posts every single day for the last 4 months and 27 days. The occasional post here and there is cute, and most people love to see you happy. But the excessive amount of posts have got to go, because it gets rather annoying for your followers.

V. Thou shall be a loyal follower to your friends.Always toss your besties the like, that’s what good friends are for.
