Name: It’s a mystery!
Current Job: Tupper the Mascot
Bryant Graduation Year: May 2014
Major: Environmental Science
Hometown: Waltham, MA
HC: Have you always dreamed of being your school’s mascot?
HM: I knew since the beginning of this year it was something I definitely wanted to do after hearing about the opening for a mascot! I am a very energetic person and my friends encouraged me to apply because they knew this would be a way for me to share my excitement with the public. I love to entertain and make people smile!
HC: What do you like the most about being Tupper? What do you like the least?
HM: I love being Tupper because it’s the closest I will ever be to being an athlete haha! It’s a great workout, I feel like I am on the field helping our bulldogs win, and I enjoy pumping up the crowd without them knowing who’s underneath. I like how I get to be my goofball self and make the Bryant population dance. It’s something I can have fun with—it gives me a relief from studying, classes, and homework. Tupper is a positive character that represents the school and I couldn’t be more proud to do it. What I don’t really love is how hot the costume is. My first game was a swim meet. If you know anything about the pool, it’s extremely humid! I was sweating bullets! I also came within a few inches of falling in the pool…a few different times.
HC: Do you think being Tupper explains your personality?
HM: Definitely. I love being happy and making other people even happier—my personality in a nutshell. The fact that Tupper is a bulldog and not something like a seagull is a plus because I love love love dogs! I’m a pretty spontaneous and random person so when I told my family and friends I took on this adventure they weren’t very surprised.
HC: What is your favorite sport team to cheer on?
HM: I’ve only done the basketball, swimming, and lacrosse games so far. Each sport carries a different atmosphere in my mind. To me, basketball brings a lot of family and friends into the crowd—the kids love me. Swimming seems more focused, and lacrosse is all about getting the crowd going. I plan to do more in the future and am extremely excited for football in the Fall. I plan to continue my mascot-ing adventures as long as the Bryant community will have me and my bulldogs continue to make me proud!
