As finals week is beginning for most but ending for some, it’s reaching the point where we are all counting down the hours, minutes, and even seconds until we get to see our moms. They will be waiting in our dorm rooms, with a huge smile, waiting to help us pack up the car, and then head home for what will be a very relaxing month. Here at Her Campus, we talk about our moms all the time-all the strength they give us, all the memories we share with them, and of course even the ridiculous things they say which make us laugh! We wanted to thank our moms, and of course get on their good side for the holidays. So below are our little “thank you” notes and “I love you” words to show our moms how thankful we are of them for the holidays. Thank you for making our college careers possible, for giving us encouraging words, and for being our best friends. WE LOVE YOU MOM! Here’s to you:
Diane Hendershott – Mother of Jeanyne Hendershott
My mother is the coolest mother around. She is a sweet lady who takes on any project imaginable. She works in an appeals court in Boston and is constantly putting together parties, creating themes, decorating rooms, and cooking food. She’s the most artistic person I’ve come across, creating a replica of a Pharoah and tomb for a Halloween party, and making a courtroom into a 50s Diner. She is also the most patient woman I know in my life. She’s also the most dedicated. While she was working in the courthouse, serving as a sunday school teacher, and girl scout leader, she finished college one course at a time, taking her 19 years to graduate. I look up to her and am thankful for all that she does for me. I’d be lost without her. I love you mom!
Carol Farrell – Mother of Kelly Farrell
My mom is the best because she strives to make my little sister and I happy. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I know I can count on my mom to cheer me up. She’s the one I turn to when I need advice or just someone to talk to. Not only does she do everything for me and my sister but she is also hilarious! There’s never a dull moment when it comes to my mom and she always knows how to have fun. She is also very creative and an amazing cook; I can’t wait to be home for winter break so I can enjoy her cooking again! So mom, thank you for being the best and always supporting me and Emmy! Even though I don’t always show it, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and I love you! P.S. Emmy clean your room so mom doesn’t have to yell at you to do it!
Nancy Baccaro – Mother of Nikki Baccaro
My mom is a Nurse Practioner specializing in Breast Cancer. She has been instrumental in establishing the new Palliative Care Service program for those with non-curable diseases. Her job is definitely not easy but she is amazing at what she does. Besides having a full time job, she is going back to school for her Doctorate in Nursing at Quinnipiac University. On top of a job and being a student, she even teaches second year medical students at UCONN! My mom is one of the most caring people and will do anything to help someone, no matter the situation. The amount of times patients or friends call our house needing help, support and guidance is crazy; the phone never stops ringing. Besides being a wonderful nurse, she still manages to be a great mom, wife and family member. She was even the one who found our dog, Buddy, online and rescued him from a puppy mill. You’re the best Mom!
Mary Adjei – Mother of Abi Adjei
My mother is the reason why I know it is possible to succeed in the corporate world, have a successful marriage, be an awesome wife, and still have the time to give all your love to your five children (and four grand children). Ever since I can remember my mom has always been a busy mom. Whether she’s in Ghana, Florida, or London if any of her five children needed her she would fly home to be there for us – even if it’s just because of a simple cold or a shopping trip. At the age of 33 my mom already had five children; with a working husband she could have stopped working and stayed at home, but she decided to push on and maintain her role as a General Manager of our family business. One thing my mother always makes sure we are aware of is the fact that, being a working mom, having an international career and taking of five children (and a husband) does not come easy, but it is worth if you do it, and do it well!
Jean Belcher – Mother of Stacey Belcher
Mum,
Who is my love?
You never fail to brighten everyone’s day, from always singing and dancing to the occasional “the minute she walked in the room” joke! You never fail to brighten my day and I can talk about you for hours to my friends. I am eternally grateful for the blessing of being your daughter and developing such a strong bond and friendship with you. You’re always laughing and I feel as though our relationship is a bunch of never ending inside jokes.
As my best friend I wish the best for you because you deserve it more than anyone. Thank you for raising me with the same values and sense of humor as you, it’s about the best gift you could have ever given!
Love ya Mum!
Ellen Colburn – Mother of Montanna Colburn
My mom works for the State of CT department of developmental services. She is a supervisor and oversees 15 staff for a unit of five behaviorally challenged men. She also oversees the staffing for a court order forensic case. In June it will be 30 years working for the state. This job working with human services has given her a great level of compassion. She counts her blessings every day for proceeding to live a happy life with the family she has. She is also an EMT and evaluates skill in a class of soon to be EMT’s. She believes that this field gives her the opportunity to give back. I couldn’t ask for a better mom. She was at every soccer game, every dance recital, and at my bedside for every tear dropped. She has taught me so much and reminds me every day that life is truly a blessing. Thank you for being the best mom ever! Love you (:
Karen Kline – Mother of Jessica Kline
My mom not only raises 4 kids (myself, my sister, my dog, and my dad) but she also owns her own real estate company called The Real Estate Gallery of CT. She has been very successful mother, wife, best friend, daughter, sister-in-law, and of course business owner. Mom-Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. From the constant “WOOHOO GO GIRLS!” at dance competitions to paying for school (LH and Bryant) I couldn’t thank you enough. I couldn’t ask for any better best friends than you and Jaci. Our sleepovers, mexican dip, martinis (shh don’t tell Daddy), Pepper voice, and apple jokes, are what make coming home each long weekend or break very special. You motivate me to continue to do what I love to do because eventually it will lead to a road of success. I love you so much and I can’t wait to be home for the next month with you!
Mary Melino – Mother of Arielle Melino
Most children compare their parents to superheroes. I can easily say that my mother is better than any superhero I have ever heard of. Take Superman for example. Sure, the “Man of Steel” has superhuman senses, seeing and hearing things that no human can. However, my mom’s senses trump this any day. My mother can tell when I am having a bad day no matter how far away she is. Pretty incredible, right? She knows exactly what to do and say to improve anyone’s day whether it is cracking jokes or sharing her wisdom and advice. She has remarkable judgment and knows exactly what a person needs. The Incredible Hulk may have the strength to support a few heavy objects, but my mother has the strength to support an entire family. My mother is the rock and the hub of all information for not only me, but also my father, grandmother, and extended family. Without my mother, our household would be utter chaos. Most superheroes, like Captain America, have superhuman intelligence as well. Like a superhero, my mother has the right combination of wisdom, intelligence, and creativity to navigate any sticky situation. Any time there is a problem, my mom can solve it. This woman will never let you down. I am happy to say that this holiday season, I am grateful for the incredible and beautiful family I was blessed with, especially my SuperMom. Thank you, Mom, for being my support system, number one fan, and best friend!
Michelle Osipowicz – Mother of Dani Freeman
My mom, Michelle Osipowicz, has always been my inspiration. She managed to attend Trinity College, gaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience all while raising three young children and putting dinner on the table every night. Since her graduation in 2005 my mom has been a Senior Professional Sales Representative for Takeda Pharmaceuticals and now is the first ever Physician Liaison at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, while also attending the University of Hartford for her MBA. She has taught me to never settle for anything less than my dreams. My mom is my best friend and my role model.
Joan Bell – Mother of Jenna Bell
Let’s be honest mom’s are perfect and mine is really no exception. She is not only a perfect person in general but shes the perfect fit for me. I could not have gotten luckier to have her as my mom. She is the worlds best listener and the kindest person I have ever met. We are never not laughing when we are together and we have the best conversations. If I could become half the mother that she is to my future children, I will consider that a success. I aspire to be the caring, helpful person that she is and respect her more than anything. Recently we have moved across country away from all our family and friends, and although we all get sad and miss home sometimes, she is the strongest person I know and does everythign she can to make everyone happy. We are truly obsessed with each other and I wouldn’t have it any other way! xox
Susan Goldstein – Mother of Danielle Goldstein
My mom is awesome. There isn’t one way to describe her. She works really hard at her job and can have fun at the same time. Her three favorite things are the beach, walking, and family (mainly my dog!). She is overly obsessed with the beach. In the summer she tries to go everyday or else she has “beach withdrawal” as she calls it. She exercises a lot and has so many friends. When anyone says hi to her she can have an hour long conversation with them. Besides all of this cool stuff she does, she’s a great mom. I could not have asked for a better mom. I can tell her anything and she’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember. I love her so much and would be so lost without her!
Karen Correll – Mother of Devon Correll
My mother, Karen Correll, is the reason I am here at Bryant. Without her constantly motivating me, and pushing me to strive for success, I would not be where I am today. My momis one of the hardest working, most dedicated woman I know. Not only is she a hard working woman, but she is also the most caring, and loving mother, wife, daughter and sister. Anyone who knows her only has great things to say about her, and that is something I look up to immensely My mom is a hero, and I will always idolize her.
