Now that we’re back from break, we are on to week 9 of the The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College by Harlan Cohen! This week we are talking about Sex: Having It, Not Having It, Hearing Other People Having It. Sex can be considered a big deal to some people and not to others. Here are some tips about having it, thinking about it, or hearing it:

Deciding Not to Do It: All virgins are virgin by choice. Don’t be so quick to give it away. It’s not a bad thing to hold on to for a while. Losing it can be a big deal to some people – which is fine! If this is the case for your partner, respect that they want to wait, and then if your partner fully trusts you, it might happen. Don’t scare them and take it slow. Everything will work itself out.

Sexual Souvenirs: If you want to find a sexually transmitted disease, college is the most convenient place to do that. Get tested before getting into bed. With HIV tests, all it takes is a swab – no needles. If you don’t want to get a special sexual gift, be careful! Get tested, ask your partner if they’ve been tested, and use a condom.

Sex can be a scary thing, so take it slow if needed. If you plan on having it, make sure it’s safe. In the words of my economics professor “STD’s are a thing, you might not think that they are but they are. Look them up!” So stay safe and we’ll see you next week!
