To start off the spring semester, Her Campus Bryant wanted to give our readers a brief introduction to Greek life on campus.

We decided to talk with the 8 new Greek life presidents to learn more about their involvement on campus and what’s next for their chapter.

Here is our interview with the president of the sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, Jessica Macia.

HC: Why did you decide to go Greek?

JM: I decided to go Greek to find a place that would help me grow as a leader as well as people that embody similar values.

HC: Why did you decide to run for president?

JM: I decided to run for President because it was a way for me to not only develop myself as a leader, but to grow my chapter as well. My sisters have been my biggest support system and always push me to do better every day. Being able to be a mentor for future leaders within our chapter and in our Greek community is something I find very rewarding.

HC: What is your favorite thing about your sorority?

JM: My favorite thing about being in Sigma is having my best friends and being able to create so many memories with people who I never would’ve met if I hadn’t taken a leap of faith to join such an amazing group of women.

HC: What is your favorite memory from being a part of your sorority?

JM: My favorite memory so far has been Up Til Dawn from this past Fall. I got to spend time supporting my sisters who helped run the event and bond with girls from other Greek organizations as well as my own sisters.

HC: What is one thing you are excited about that’s happening in your organization this semester?

JM: I’m excited for our chapter to host another walk on campus for one of our national philanthropic partners, The March of Dimes. We want to get as many people as we can to join us walk around the pond on campus to help raise money for this organization that aids families with premature babies. This event is planned for Saturday, April 18th from 12 pm-3 pm right on campus!
