Name: Lauren Cotnoir

Job Title: Manager of Employer Relations & Recruiting Programs, Amica Center for Career Education

Fun Fact: I am a twin

Can you tell us a little bit about your background? How did you get to where you are today?

I graduated from Providence College with a Marketing degree in 2006. Prior to joining the Amica Center team at Bryant, I worked at State Street Corporation in Boston within Talent Acquisition; this was my first professional position after college. While I held a number of different positions throughout my 7 years at State Street, my roles were always very closely aligned with campus recruitment initiatives and entry-level hiring. My recruitment background and employer/industry perspective helped me to land my current role managing our corporate partnerships. This role has been the start of a truly incredible career.

What are your other daily responsibilities at Bryant?

Aside from managing our spring career fair, I am also responsible for creating and maintaining a robust recruiting program for seniors and graduate students, working with employers to identify effective campus recruitment strategies and providing career advising to students.

What is your favorite part/most rewarding part of your job?

I absolutely love advising students – it is an incredible feeling to know that I can provide career guidance and support towards a goal that is so exciting and significant!

What does it take to plan a Career Fair?

A lot of organization! There are so many moving pieces – from registration to event logistics, it is important to stay organized so I can properly manage each piece of the process. I must also give kudos to the entire Amica Center staff – ensuring the success of the fair is a joint effort and couldn’t be done without collaborative team work!

Any special tips or tricks for students attending the fair?

Have your 30-second elevator pitch ready – ensure you can effectively articulate your background/skills and how these skills make you an ideal candidate for the position/industry! And dress to impress – first impression is key here, so even if you have a strong pitch, a wrinkled suit or sloppy appearance can negatively affect your candidacy for a position.

To see Lauren’s hard work and network with employers, visit the Spring Career Fair in the MAC on Wednesday, February 25th from 5:00-7:30 pm.  Use #BryantCF2015 to share your thoughts before and during the fair!
