1.       Going to class in your PJ’s

This is especially okay for those that get stuck with an 8 am. College students cheer others on when they choose to bum it.

2.       Crying just about anywhere

Happens way too often, believe us. Most days you will probably cry over the fact that you dropped your pencil. Just about anything and everything can send you into tears if it hits you at the right time.

3.       Eating alone

Totally 100% normal. Your schedule will never perfectly match another person’s. There will be many days you find yourself eating alone in the dining hall and you will look up and see many others eating alone, too.

4.       Drinking no matter the day or time

The pressures of college can really get to you and most people think, “what better thing to do than drink?” It could be 9 am on a Tuesday or 3 pm on a Sunday, and there will probably a few people on campus with a drink in their hands.

5.       Skipping class

In high school it was hard to avoid going to your least favorite class but in college, you don’t have to go to a class if you aren’t feeling it. Most professors don’t even take attendance, but that does not mean you can miss it all the time.

6.       Sleeping in strange places

9 times out of 10, you will see someone sleeping on a side walk or in the lobby of a building on any given weekend morning. Believe it or not, this is totally normal. People pass out anywhere and everywhere; it happens to the best of us.

7.       Doing things for yourself

You will have to learn to be completely independent in college. No more holding mommy and daddy’s hands. Being off on your own will teach you so much about yourself and what you are capable of.

8.       Going to school 24/7

Although skipping class is a thing, you are still doing class work CONSTANTLY. Between group projects, essays and exams, there will be no time for down time.

9.       Being friendly to almost everyone

There really aren’t “cliques” on most college campuses. You go from knowing your entire class in high school to knowing about 3% of your college’s population. It’s also pretty hard to be “cliquey” when you don’t even see the same people every day.

10.   Eating dinner at midnight

Eating dinner very late at night is common. Whether you have a night class, are stuck in the library all day doing homework, or putting in extra work at the gym, there will be times where you miss really dinner time and have to settle for an extra late one.

11.   You can hang out with anyone you want at any time you want

This is probably a lot of people’s favorite part of college. At any time on any given day, you can hang out with whoever you want. No one has to know, or everyone can know. Be careful with who you are hanging out with though, you never know who is friends with who!
