How To Re-Use Summer Clothes for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

As if the change from 80 to 60 degree weather isn’t depressing enough, we all know what it’s like to have piles of summer clothes that seem no longer wearable. But this fall, before you start buying a whole new wardrobe for the season, reconsider some of the pieces you bought for the summer months and layer, layer, layer for the cooler days ahead.

Colored Jeans
It’s not too late for the colored skinny jeans you wore with wedges this summer; pair them with boots or flats instead! Colored skinny jeans can still look fall appropriate with blazers or sweaters in either neutral colors or the option to color-block is there too. With comfy sweaters and riding boots or ballet flats you’re colorful jeans will still be wearable.

Tank Tops

The millions of tank tops that ruled your wardrobe this summer can still be so wearable even in the cooler weather. Instead of shorts, make the switch to jeans, and layer on cardigans or chunky sweaters, along with scarves for a much warmer look. Tank tops are essential for a layered look which is really in for fall.

Dresses and Skirts
Tights are always a necessity for making outfits more wearable in the colder months. Brown or black tights, depending on the color of your dress,
are perfect to transition. A lot of the solid colored dresses we buy to wear in the summer can be warmed up with tights, boots, sweaters, and can be all pulled together with a great belt. The base of the outfit is the dress but it’s suddenly fall appropriate when paired with all of your warm accessories! The same can be said for pencil skirts and miniskirts. To get some more mileage out of those pieces pair them with long sleeve tees, sweaters, scarves, and of course tights with booties, or ballet flats.
