Girl’s Night for Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Chocolate, flowers, dinner and a movie… it’s all pretty overrated.  Valentine’s Day is really about celebrating the ones you love, and there are no people more special than your friends! This year, skip watching a rom com with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and instead have a fun girl’s night!

1. Have a chocolate cooking competition! Buy an assortment of different chocolates and have each of your friends make something different using the chocolate. Have each person vote on each dish based on creativity, use of chocolate, and taste. Or skip the voting and just enjoy the yummy creations.

2. Pamper yourselves with a spa night! Paint your nails, do facials, and do each other’s hair for a night of relaxation and, of course, girl talk.

3. Make a fun, fruity drink! No girl’s night would be complete without some cocktails! So make this delicious champagne punch:

1 bottle (25.4 oz) of chilled orange limeade, or any sparkling citrus flavor

1 bottle (750ml) of chilled champagne or sparkling wine

1/2 cup of triple sec or other orange-flavored liqueur

1 small lemon, lime, and orange cut in half

4. Play Cards Against Humanity! Direct all the Valentine’s Day frustration into this game that is sometimes dirty and politically incorrect, but is always fun!

5. What is better than going out to dinner? Getting delivery! You and your friends can chose to get classics such as pizza or Chinese food, or treat yourself by getting a restaurant quality meal. The smartphone app GrubHub offers free delivery from over 30,000 restaurants in over 800 cities!

6. A typical girl’s night for Valentine’s Day always involves watching a romantic movie.  Make this year more interesting by watching Letters to Juliet! The movie is about Romeo and Juliet, and the Juliet Club that answers letters from people all over the world. After watching the movie, have you and your friends write your own letters to Juliet! They can be about life, love, friendship, anything! The address is:

Club di Giulietta

Via Galilei 3

37133 Verona, Italy

7. If towards the end of the night you and your friends are getting antsy, then go out together! Chose something focused on fun – like singing karaoke, bowling, or laser tag! Kick it up by finding salsa dancing lessons or a comedy show. Stay away from bars and clubs that are sure to have prowling guys.
