Flair Friday: Perfecting the Winged Eye

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Whether it’s Lorde, Katy Perry, or Lady Gaga, the latest eye makeup all has to do with the eyeliner, specifically the winged, cat eye look. This is a photo tutorial on how to get the look!

Start by smearing some sort of eye shadow primer on the eye. This will help keep the liner set and reduce smears through the whole day. Urban Decay makes a great primer.

Next you will need some sort of liquid liner. Above is a Mac Eyeliner Pot and an angle brush, but any liquid liner would work.

Next you want to apply the liner just along the lash line. The thinner the line is the better. It makes it much easier to adjust and wing out. Line until the lashes end.

After this is lined, start from the center of the lash line and gradually thicken the line in pieces. It should look like the line is gradually thickening. End when the lashes end. Above the liner used was switched to an Almay liquid liner just for the pure reason as it is easier to control.  Once at the end of the lashes angle a thin line out a half centimeter past the lash line.

Fill in the space created by the wing with a black shadow. Above an angled brush is used for the reasons of ease of control.

The final product should be finished with a favorite mascara or even fake lashes. It is a quick simple eye that is always classy and sophisticated, but can be played up on a night out!
