If you’re looking for a fun way to add some personality to your room, making your own jewelry dish is the perfect DIY project. Start by picking out a small ceramic or plain jewelry dish. You can find inexpensive ones at craft stores, Target, Walmart, or even online. Next, grab some paint and a few small paintbrushes. Acrylic paint is a great option for creating colorful designs, and you can choose whatever colors match your room or personal style. If you want to take your dish to the next level, consider picking up some craft gems, pearls, rhinestones, or other small decorations to bedazzle it. You don’t need a ton of supplies to make something that looks completely unique to you.

Before you start painting, decide what you want your design to look like. This is where you can really get creative! You can make up your own design, paint your initials, add flowers or hearts, create a fun pattern, or even keep it simple with your favorite colors. If you’re not sure where to start, Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration. Try searching for “DIY jewelry dish ideas” or “painted jewelry dish” and save a few designs you like. Once you have an idea, lightly sketch your design onto the dish with a pencil if you need a guide. Then, grab your paintbrushes and get started! Take your time with smaller details, and don’t worry if it isn’t perfect. The best part of a DIY is that it’s supposed to feel personal, so make it your own.

Once you’re finished painting and adding any decorations, the most important step is to let your jewelry dish dry completely. It can be tempting to immediately put your favorite rings, earrings, or bracelets inside, but giving the paint enough time to dry will help prevent smudging or damaging your design. Follow the drying instructions for whatever paint or adhesive you use, and when in doubt, give it some extra time. Once everything is completely dry, your new jewelry dish is ready to use! Put it on your nightstand, desk, or dresser and use it to keep your everyday jewelry in one place. Not only is it a cute addition to your room, but you’ll also have a piece of decor that you made yourself.
