As of January 1, 2014 the legalization of Marijuana for recreational use in Colorado and Washington has become a subject of national discussion. Captivated by the legalization, the country has been given a spark of motivation to push for more states to legalize, including Rhode Island. Rhode Island is already a medical marijuana state and recently decriminalized some possession of the drug. The Marijuana Policy Project is one of many organizations behind the push, and are putting pressure on the legislators. Although there was a bill in 2013 backed by The Marijuana Policy Project that failed, many feel there is hope for legalization in 2014.
