Health Services contacted me earlier this morning asking to spread the word about their event this coming Wednesday. Â It deserves a lot of attention. Â Read the rest to see why.
A lot of people lack the confidence needed for success. Â Â They don’t find themselves good looking enough, smart enough, fun enough, etc. to be successful. Â Success comes in all different measures; from attracting a campus cutie, scoring an A in a class, having a solid group of friends,or maybe even becoming a millionaire! Â Everyone measures their idea of success differently. Â But the one thing in common to get to success is you need to confidence, the “I can do this”, to get there.
This campaign, Bulldog Beauty, puts a stop to all of that “I’m not good enough” nonsense. Â That’s part of Her Campus Bryant’s mission as well; to empower women on this campus with the confidence to do whatever they want to do and be whoever they want to be to end up on a very succesful path in life. We truly believe that nobody should go unnoticed and there is a little bit a lot of beauty inside everyone. Â So how did this “campaign” get started?
Well, last spring the Department of Communication in conjunction with Health Services hosted its first annual Health Campaign Competition. This competition was the culmination of a semester-long project for students taking COM 480 “Advanced Health Communication: Health Campaigns,” in which they were tasked to create a campaign that they believed would make Bryant’s campus “a safer and healthier place for students.”
Utilizing the theory and research surveyed in COM 480 throughout the semester and input from health services, students developed messages focused on changing people’s attitudes and behaviors surrounding a wide array of health issues. The campaign that received the most votes was “Bulldog Beauty” created by Jeanette Ferraro and Meaghan Phelps.
Health Services in conjunction with the Counseling Department is collaborating to promote this campaign on campus. “Bulldog Beauty” is about honoring and acknowledging beauty in all its aspects and accepting the individual beauty of each person. The kick off for this campaign will start on Wednesday October 17th in the rotunda from 10am-12 noon and Tupper will be here to help us!
Stop by the rotunda on Wednesday to talk to everyone who values everyone on campus for exactly who they are.
Designed by students for students – to help make Bryant a safer and healthier place…Remember power.win. strength .success = Bulldog Beauty!  Â
